Dr. Amatya is a Pediatric Psychologist at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC. He completed his pediatric medical psychology training at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine before joining Children's National Health System (CNHS) in 2017. He serves as the psychologist for the kidney and heart transplant and dialysis services. His clinical interests include interventions to improve medical adherence, adjustment to diagnosis and treatment, and readiness for transition to adult care. He also provides services targeting emotional/behavioral difficulties and adaptive functioning deficits. Dr. Amatya’s research interests include quality of life assessment, barriers to adherence, and psychosocial factors associated with adherence and long-term adjustment in pediatric transplant patients and their families.
