Rachael Burgess, MSN, CPNP-AC, CPON completed her undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received her MSN with a minor in palliative care from the University of Pennsylvania. Her nursing career has included caring for children and families in acute care settings such as hematology/oncology, pulmonary and stem cell transplant departments at UNC, CHOP and BCH.  Rachael is a nurse practitioner on the Pediatric Advanced Care Team (PACT) in the Division of Pediatric Palliative Care, Department of Psychosocial Oncology and Palliative Care at Boston Children’s Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.  She also serves at the Director of Nursing and Director of the NP Fellowship program for PACT.


Her interest in palliative care started early in her career when she cared for children and families at the bedside with complicated medical, social, ethical, and spiritual situations.  As a clinician, she is committed to the providing palliative care to her patients and families to enhance their quality of life and wellbeing.
